Steve Rigby of Sprintek
offered to do some yokes for the Katana. Actually these are GSX-R750L/M
yokes but as we all know by now a GSX-R front-end is a straight swap
with the air-cooled GSX frame.
The main reason I went with these being I didn't want to be a nuisance
to Steve and he was doing these yokes for somebody else anyway and
it takes considerably less time to do two at a time than a single
set.
Allmost to beautiful to bolt onto the bike.
I like the straightforward design which makes them light, strong and
easy to clean/polish.
Engraved kuckle-duster on the hollow bottom yoke, which
uses four stainless M6 pinch bolts with tapered heads to get clamp
the fork legs in style.
The top yoke with backswept risers.
Also properly lightened.
I like the way you can still see how the CNC machine
has eaten away the aluminum, so I won't polish the marks away.
Some more detail shots. Enjoy...
Ofcourse the yokes are threated with a new set of
bearings.
30x55x17 lower and
25x47x15 upper as used on most Suzukis.
The GSX-R750 USD fork legs are 54mm at the bottom yoke
and 50mm at the top yoke but as I wanted to fit my "oldskool"
37mm GS500 forks and have the option of USD forks at a later time
Tinie from BikePenR made some adapter bushings.
Here they are fitted on the bike at Street or Track
2004
(yes the forks 'll need "just a tad" more preload)
Lovely 'innit?
T hey do make the rest look kinda spindly but you'd barely notice
as they're hidden behind the fairing most of the time.
